How I Fell in Love with Coffee and Started Making It at Home

It started with watching my colleagues make coffee during office breaks. Their latte art caught my attention, and slowly, I wanted to learn how to make it myself.

It Started at the Office

When I changed jobs, I didn’t expect the coffee machine in my new office to become something I’d get so interested in.

During breaks, I would see my colleagues making coffee. I got curious and went over to try it myself. What really caught my attention was the latte art some of them could make. I was impressed by how they could pour milk into coffee and leave a nice design on top.

I’m more of an artistic person, so I guess that part appealed to me quite naturally. Seeing the designs my colleagues could make made me want to learn too.

Practising at Home

About three months after joining the office, I bought a Giselle Prima Mola for home. It’s an espresso machine with a built-in grinder, and it suited me as an affordable beginner setup.

Having my own machine meant I could practise at home too. I could spend more time making coffee and trying to pour the latte art that had first caught my attention in the office.

At first, even getting the white milk foam to show on top of the coffee felt like progress. I was happy to see that white part appearing, even if it wasn’t a proper design yet.

Now I’m the One Making Coffee

These days, I can confidently make good coffee and latte art in the office. I’m quite proud of how far I’ve come.

And honestly, I enjoy looking a bit like a barista while I’m doing it. I like how professional the whole process looks, and it feels good to be the person making the coffee myself.

It also makes me happy when someone sees my latte art and says, “Wow, how long have you been practising?” I remember being the one watching my colleagues and feeling impressed by what they could make. Now I get to see that reaction from other people when they look at my coffee.

I hope seeing me make coffee gets someone else curious enough to try. That’s how it started for me, after all.
